Dubbed “Kitchen Goddess” by The Detroit News, Joan Kohn is best known as the host, writer, and associate producer of Home & Garden Television's Kitchen Design and Bed & Bath Design, two series that were at the heart of HGTV's primetime schedule for twelve consecutive seasons. Joan's warmth, accessibility and design philosophy, reflected in her tag line Do Something Beautiful for Yourself®, made her one of HGTV's most popular hosts with critics and fans alike. Joan also hosted nearly two dozen HGTV specials, including: The White House Christmas; Designing for History: The Madame C.J. Walker Showhouse; Christmas at Biltmore Estate; and the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show.
Joan's first book, Joan Kohn's It's Your Kitchen: Over 100 Inspiration Kitchens, was published in Fall 2003 by Bulfinch Press (Time Warner Book Group) and received rave reviews from critics, book clubs, design experts and readers. Her second book, Joan Kohn's It's Your Bed and Bath, was released in September 2004.
A nationally recognized design expert, Joan has been a celebrity speaker at many home and garden shows and design centers across the country, and has frequently been interviewed by national magazines and newspapers and on TV and radio shows. She has served as a spokesperson for companies such as In-Sink-Erator, Cutco, Mohawk Industries and DuPont, and has served as a judge on design contests ranging from the Sub Zero Design Awards to Detroit Home Magazine Awards. She has also contributed articles on design to various publications, including The Robb Report and HomeSpa Magazine.
Joan is currently developing a new television series on design for national public television.
Joan's television production work has won various awards, including two Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards.
